More Than a First Impression
Personal Initiative of Kennedy Fewell
More Than a First Impression encourages individuals to look beyond a first interaction and allow people to show their true selves. In doing so, we dig deeper to see and understand the beauty of the individual, and we break down stereotypes and biases to create a more accepting and inclusive community.
Kennedy has felt misjudged in her own life. Growing up with Dyslexia and ADHD, Kennedy had teachers and peers tell her she would never be capable of achieving a college education. She’s proving them wrong as a 2025 graduate with not one, but two majors, and as a collegiate cheerleader. Similarly, she has seen the negative sides of stereotyping against students with mental and/or physical differences as well. Having a mother who taught within the Special Needs community, she saw how those with developmental disabilities were treated differently or “less than” other students.
Kennedy noticed again and again that she and others were underestimated, solely based on their differences. Others might not have seen it, but she knows everyone is capable of achieving greatness. Kennedy has made it her mission to change peoples’ perspectives and encourage deeper relationships through More Than a First Impression.
Through classroom visits, keynote speeches, and interactive workshops, Kennedy is determined to help everyone find the confidence in themselves to feel accepted, while breaking down stereotypes to cultivate inclusion for everyone. We are all more than our first impression. When we look deeper, we see differences - and that’s where the real beauty lies.
